Local media in San Antonio is reporting that Steve Austin has been arrested for an assault involving his girlfriend.
Details are sketchy at this point but the woman apparently suffered injuries after being pushed to the ground by Austin during an argument.
Austin pled no contest to a misdemeanor count of assault in 2002 for striking his then wife Debra. As a result of that plea, Austin was sentenced to one year probation, fined $1000, ordered to attend a domestic violence counseling course, and perform 80 hours of community service.
Alcohol was reportedly a factor in the prior case and Austin was not allowed to drink until his probation had been completed. Beer has played a major role in Austin's character over the years and although Austin has been limited physically by injuries that keep him from competing as an active wrestler, he has portrayed a beer drinking sherriff on RAW in recent months.
It's not known if alcohol played a role in the current domestic dispute.

To update the earlier reported Austin abuse story.....he has apparently not been arrested. However, the rumors about a domestic abuse incident with his girlfriend (now known to be Tess Broussard, 37 years old)who he has been dating for close to a year were in fact reported on local San Antonio TV-news affiliate KSAN-12 as reported.
The story goes, police were called to Austin's house in San Antonio on Thursday and according to a police report, the two, who are in the process of seperation, were talking when Austin "became irritable" and apparently pushed down Broussard, who landed on her hands and knees. Broussard told the police she "feared bodily injury" and that she has pictures taken for evidence and will pursue legal action against Austin. SSA Entertainment sent out a press release earlier today stating the following: "Despite the reports of Steve Austin's situation in Texas earlier today, SSA Entertainment has confirmed that Steve Austin will be in Secaucus tomorrow as scheduled." So, those planning on catching the Austin autograph session in Secaucus tomorrow can still plan on seeing Austin there.
