WWE.com posted the following today on their website:
After months of negotiations, the WWE and Steve Austin have been unable to come to terms on a new contract and as a result have mutually agreed to part company.
Both parties have left the door open to work together again in the future and the WWE wishes Steve the very best in his future endeavors.
Over the last few weeks WWE have been in talks with Austin over a new contract. Austin wanted more control over outside protects.
Austin has been rumoured to work Japan in the Hustle shows v.s Goldberg. Hustle shows are run by DSE(dream stage Entertainment-The company who run Pride Fighting Champion) and Zero-One. Austin could get big money in Japan but i'm not sure his neck is up to it.
Goldberg and Austin could work each other either on the 5/8 show or sometime in July. Goldberg was supposed to Wrestle Kawada for All Japan's Triple Crown Title at Hustle 3 but he has recently been injured. The match is not set yet.
